Check it out. All done. just put the buttons and pocket on last night at SnS. Biscotti was very well received. I was only there till 8 and they were gone. Even if people don’t really like a certain cookie, they eat them if you made them. They know that it will be good. Let me know what you think of the sweater. I have so many other projects right now that I need to start posting them.

Here is the simple scallop baby blanket I began crocheting about week ago. Using the fluffy novelty yarn really adds something to a very basic blanket.

I started over from scratch using the “magic loop” technique with circular needles. Those Addi Turbos for lace are sharp. My fingertips are sore. I stayed up late last night so I could get to the row where I added beads. You string the beads onto your yarn before casting on, so I’ve been carrying these beads on my yarn from the beginning so it was a milestone to incorporate them into the sock.

The sock looks lumpy, (I should pin it down stretched out for a better look at the pattern). But once you put the sock on, the design will show fine.

Now that I finished the shawl, it was time to pick up a new project…………….oh yeah there is still the afghan to finish, but what good knitter doesn’t have multiple projects going at the same time?

So I thought I would try the “Booby Sock” kit I picked up a few weeks ago. Made one attempt years ago at knitting socks and right from the get go fell into the “one sock” syndrome. I’m thinking it would be easier to knit these up on circular needles. What do you think?

My goal is to complete a PAIR and give them to Auntie Annie.

I don’t know why I struggled with this “Easy” rated pattern, but I did. Constantly having to tear out a row or two and repeating. But now it’s done. Well I hope it is. I don’t know how many pins I used to stretch it out to the dimensions I wanted, but I had to run out to purchase additional pins. I used an old sewing cutting board that I had stashed in a closet. It’s made out of cardboard and folds to tuck away in a closet. The grid lines work out great for straight lines when pinning. I steamed it with my iron but I’m not sure it got damp enough to hold the shape. I’ll check it out tonight when I get home and if needed I’ll try spritzing it with water and steam it again.

So here’s a question to pose to the S&S group. Once I block it, will it hold it’s shape when it gets washed? Or do I have to block each time? I want to give this shawl to Auntie Annie and I wouldn’t want it to lose it’s shape when she washes it for the first time.

I also tried compressing my photos, so hopefully I can post my pictures on my own now.

So here is what the sweater looks like. Bah, too big. I do a Jared impression to show the size. I spent 30min ripping up 5 or so hours of knitting. It was fun. Everyone at the shop were really sad to say to rip it. I didn’t care. Good practice to rip and re-start. I’m pretty far already.

This is Knit Purl in Portland, OR. I like it. It is the closest LYS to me, AND, it is on my way home from work. See all the beautiful yarns. They just got this wool that is Cascade Yarns Superwash. It is $10 and it is super nice. The fact that it is 100% wool and washable. I like that. MD – you have to come up for a Thursday night SNS so that everyone can bow down to the wonderful cookie baker lady. I had a few people ask for recepies and I don’t know. There are 2 other Sandy’s that work there. Great yarn, great people, tons of help.
Great prices too. Come on up. Be prepared to answer how to make your cookies.

So I took the completed pieces to Knit Purl and spoke to Sandy about it. My concerns were for the bottom(main) piece being too big. I never really tried it on. Or put it around me. So I did there and wowo. It was huge. So the suggestion was rip it. They were all like “I’m so sorry but it is the only way”. I really didn’t care. I figure it like this: I want this piece to be something that I actually wear. I don’t want a cool sweater that hangs in the closet because it is too big. So I’m not concerned. I’m already about 1/4 of the way back to where I was. No big woop. I will post pictures later today.

“Smokin’ Jacket” Sleeve #1

Well here is sleeve #1 done. Just needs the shoulder. 2.5 skeins. I hope this is the right size. I’m just following the pattern. I hope it is not too big. If it is too small, I’ll be able to fit into it eventually. If it is too big it will always be too big. We will see. I’m knitting up a storm.

Also, I taught Alison to knit today. She is picking it up really well(picking it up, get it? Wanna box?). She has already learned to cast on, knit, purl and now she is creating her own stitch pattern. See photos for her progress. She will start her wallet project soon. She is trying to get good and even first. Not bad huh?
